Today, the Pious Ali for City Council campaign announced a raft of impressive new endorsements for his candidacy for the at large city council.
The endorsements announced today were:
- Current city council members Jill Duson and Ed Suslovic
- State representatives Dick Farnsworth, Mark Dion, and Diane Russell
- Former city councilors Dave Marshall and Dory Ann Waxman
- State legislative candidates Rachel Talbot Ross and Mike Sylvester
“Pious is a committed advocate and leader, and I would be proud to work him on City Council,” said Councilmember Duson.
“I am supporting Pious as a man who is thoughtful, considers the facts in decision making, and is patient enough to achieve the very best for the City of Portland,” said Representative Farnsworth.
Former city councilmember Dave Marshall added, “Pious Ali is the progressive voice that we need on the Portland City Council. He is a proven leader in and is on the right side of issues affecting immigrants, refugees, and others who need the strong support of the community. Let’s take this opportunity to strengthen the City Council and elect Pious Ali!”
The latest group of endorsers joined every member of the school board, who unanimously endorsed Ali’s candidacy earlier this year.
“I am deeply honored to have the support of so many respected fellow public servants,” said Ali. “I look forward to working them if elected to deepen the city council’s engagement with all of Portland’s communities, address the rising costs of housing, rebuild our neighborhood schools, and lift wages for all workers.”
